It's a great question - I do mention India in passing, but haven't thought deeply enough about it. I've been there many times, and love the place. My sense is that India might eventually come to be a huge proportion of global GNP - like it was back before the East India Company arrived. It has a hybrid federal parliamentary system - and the states are very proud, and contrast markedly with each other (compare UP with Karnataka!). It might end up a little Germany in this regard. The only obstacle it really needs to worry about is its getting in its own way - travel by road between states can be awkward, for example, requiring paperwork that would be unthinkable in other places. And Indian bureaucracy often feels like 'make-work' rather than productive work.

I've always found the structure of costs for Indian visas odd, to say the least: https://www.indianembassydublin.gov.in/page/visa-fee/ - why not make this nice and simple?

I'm also always struck by the brilliant Indian colleagues I have, and how successful Indian emigres are outside of India.

I do think however India is a long-term play - much like Africa - it will peak in the middle and latter years of this century.
