I wish we could waste less of the food that we produce and prepare for immediate consumption. As a child I was strongly encouraged to eat all of the food on my plate due to the starving Chinese. (How they might otherwise benefit from this was not explained!) But the principle remains and I believe that on a national basis, all unused food should be saved and re-distributed to those who do not have enough, before it goes bad too.
