For my first ever podcast, I’m delighted to have been able to chat with Rob Martineau, author of the forthcoming book, ‘Waypoints: A Journey on Foot’ (go and pre-order it!).
Really interesting podcast and will be buying the book. Thanks for sharing your story Rob and thanks for the first podcast Shane. Hope there’ll be more to come.
Shane just to say thanks so much for having me on this: it was great to be able to have a conversation with you, and I know I've learned so much about what my mind is doing while I walk from your writing. Hopefully we can get a walk in soon :) Rob
I really enjoyed listening to this. Having met an inspirational young walker on my travels last year, who talked so positively about long distance walking, I was delighted to see this as a topic for your first podcast. I am not sure, like you, I would be so courageous as Rob, but I believe we all need to walk more. So your podcast and Rob's book help us to appreciate the wide reaching benefits of such a simple activity. Perhaps now more than ever a move away from the excessive reliance on cars and other fossil fuel dependent forms of transport needs to be encouraged. So please continue to keep us informed about this wonderful, free and energising pass time. Many thanks, Caroline
I define my self as a pilgrim now and the theme is so close to my heart. (Stumbled across your site when contacting you on messenger Shane. Strange world, what a coincidence 🤔
We are working on a facility study; «bio-markers on long distance walkers» Correlation towards population studies. Correlation towards elite athletes. Mechanisms around the reward system. Hormonal levels; dopamine , serotonin, norandrenalin. Balance in activity, metabolism and restitution.
